India Redefines the Word “Unique”!

With the elections approaching fast, everything just keeps on getting all the more interesting. And that is why; Floralis keeps you updated with the latest devlopments! A 55-year old man has shown determination by coming to Vadodara from Tamil Nadu and standing against the all-powerful Narendra Modi.

His name is Dr. K Padmarajan and he owns a tire trading firm in Tamil Nadu. While filing his nomination as an independent Lok Sabha candidate from the Vadodara seat, he has made it clear that he has no interest in getting involved in politics. His objective is not to win the election, but to set a world record of fighting the maximum number of elections!   A qualified homeopathic doctor, his zeal his certainly noteworthy, thus adding to the count over the years. This will be his 159th nomination and he has declared himself as the Election King of India after having fought and lost 158 elections for more than two decades. His decision to file his nomination from Vadodara was taken after Modi chose the seat as well. This is because he wishes to fight against popular leaders (as he has done in the past against names like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, APJ Abdul Kalam, Pratibha Patil, Manmohan Singh, etc.).  Padmarajan has made his mark in the Rajya Sabha, Presidential and Vice-Presidential polls too (which he lost as well!). Ever since his first election in 1988, he has not campaigned for a single one, even though all the nominations cost him more than 12 lakh rupees!

Meanwhile in Jaipur, 57-year-old Niru Chhabra has developed a fantastic approach in order to generate awareness about the vitality of voting. The artist has used the concept of etching poll-related slogans on rice grains, which she will exhibit at various places so that it captivates the attention of potential voters. Chhabra is not new to this, as she began writing on rice way back in 1984, and till date has penned 108 letters on a single grain of rice with a brush besides Gayatri and Namokar mantras.

                                                               Niru Chhabra’s Creation

A lot of effort went into this idea – it took almost two months to get the miniature writing done on the grains. There are a total of 16 slogans that encourage people to cast their vote. They have been written in black paint (one word on one rice) and displayed on paperboard. To make them even more appealing, accessories such as colored beads have been used.  India is such a diverse country with determined and strong people who want to influence society in one way or the other using unique methodologies. We believe in out-of-the-box thinking too, which is reflected in our products. Do have a quick look!

Unique Flowers of the World

Floralis, the local online flower shop, delivers more than just flowers nationally in India and internationally to other countries worldwide. We have an eclectic collection of fresh flowers, bouquets, wreaths, cakes, candles, chocolates, artificial and dried flowers. Our stocks are updated regularly, according to consumer demand as well as the evolved buying needs of the global online shopper. Floralis is home to some of the most exotic and rare flowers of the world. Show your care, affection and appreciation with these natural wonders. They are sure to add vibrancy and color to the recipients’ lives, giving them immense joy and a sense of fulfillment that comes with sharing the good things in life.

One such unique flower is the Anthurium. Anthuriums originally belong to tropical America, with close to 800 species found in northern Argentina, Mexico and Uruguay. Other common names of this heart-shaped flower are Flamingo Lily, Painted Tongue and Flamingo Flower. The flower is a modified leaf which flares out from the fleshy spike where the actual flowers grow. The stem reaches to a length of about 20 inches depending on the leaf’s size: the bigger the leaf, the longer the stem. These flowers are very attractive and popular among flower growers and lovers alike. At Floralis, you will find Anthuriums in different cuts and flower arrangements.

Another flower in this category is the Bird of Paradise, available exclusively at Floralis, the online flower shop. It is one of the most vibrant flowers around and originates from South Africa. The name has been derived from its spectacular shape which has an uncanny resemblance to a bird’s head and beak. The flower appears similar to a colorful bird in flight. Birds of Paradise are also called Crane Flowers and they bloom between September and May. The foliage is similar to banana leaves and has long petioles. The leaves of the plant follow a strict two rank arrangement to form a thick, glossy green crown making it an ideal ornamental plant. The Birds of Paradise plants usually grow 4 feet tall.

Calla Lilies are popular for wedding bouquets, and you will certainly spot one according to your liking at Floralis. They signify beauty and magnificence and hence their demand in matrimonial celebrations.  A Calla Lily flower has a very unique form which is very different from other varieties and helps it stand out. It comes in various colors of pink, yellow, purple, green and orange. Callas are also referred to as Trumpet Lily, Arum Lily and Pig Lily. They belong to southern Africa and are relatively easier to grow than other exotic plants. On average, a Calla Lily grows between 1 to 3 feet high. The leaves are 1.5 inches long and rich green. They look like arrowheads, with silver or white speckles.

Calla Lilies make excellent houseplants, ideal for flower arrangements, bouquets, borders and beds. At Floralis, our expert florists put together elegant flower arrangements using Calla Lilies so that you can cherish those special occasions for a long time.

Autumn Specials

Autumn Hues For Your Home

They blow in the wind. They wait for spring. Trees have a lovely life. They never ever shrink.

“The bursting sun, the crackling leaves, See them glowing from the trees?”

All of us are bogged down by life’s incessant changes. The race of life leaves us with no scope to think. Or is it?

No. We do stop and think.

Whenever we are in trouble, we look for hope. When we are sad, we look for inspiration to feel happy.

And those beautiful moments when we derive inspiration from nature around us, turn out to be the most beautiful moments of our lives.

“Colors surround us, so vivid and bright, What colors do you see, in this beautiful sight?”

Nature. Ever changing, yet, ever consistent. Every part of nature welcomes change. Rough weathers…. Molting….. Everything! Just like how we have to do, in our lives.

Take trees for example. Spring is when they shed their old leaves and take up a new appearance. And in order to make the process smooth, they prepare themselves all through autumn. In a cycle that none of us have ever missed, the leaves gradually change color from green to red to yellow. Don’t you forget purple. Even on their way to change, trees show us how to prepare for it, giving us the beautiful season – autumn.

“I see orange and purple, yellow and red, A big leaf just swooshed by my head!!!”

Won’t it be beautiful if these deep hues greet your guests every time they enter your living room? At Floralis, we have noticed how beautiful autumn is in parts of India and elsewhere. Monsoons are here !!

Monsoon
Who doesn’t love the smell of wet soil after the first rain? Or how everything looks so fresh, vibrant and clean after a downpour? Monsoons have always been associated with a lot of things – umbrellas, raincoats, paper boats, water logging, slow traffic, hot pakoras and yummy khichdi. The ideal way to spend a rainy day is lazing around in the house with a book and a steaming cup of tea or coffee. Forget television: it’s the perfect time to relive the golden era of Indian film music with the likes of Mukesh, Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle on radio or music records.

This year, the monsoons have arrived on time. Kerala, on the southern coast, received its first rains of the season on Saturday, June 1. The Indian Meteorological Department also confirmed that large parts of adjoining Tamil Nadu witnessed rains, reinforcing the fact that the monsoon is finally upon us. Last year, the monsoon came to Kerala four days after the June 1 forecast. But it was a good season, with bumper harvests, especially of rice, cotton and sugar. Surplus production of cotton led to robust exports while sugar output exceeded demand. Other parts of India will experience the rainy season by the second week of June.

The best thing to do when it pours is to do nothing at all. We owe it to ourselves to slow down a bit, to savor the little joys of life and stop running. Everything can wait - deadlines, work and clients. It’s perfectly fine to take out a few moments from your hectic schedules for yourself. And a rainy day is the perfect excuse. When you stop racing against the clock for once, you begin to realize what you’ve been missing out on. It’s spending time with your loved ones. You want to be home with your family, enjoying quality time with them rather than just eating together at the dinner table every night. Then there are times when you come home so late that you have to eat alone.

At Floralis, we understand that it’s not always possible to be with your near and dear ones all the time. That’s why we have carefully selected a wide range of gifts and novelties for you to show how much you care. Even when it’s raining outside, you can shop inside! Choose from our collection of fresh flowers, bouquets, assorted chocolates, irresistible combos, cakes, candles, dried flowers, vases and a bevy of home décor items. Each product is unique – it’ll make the recipient feel more special while show your thoughtfulness at the same time. Imagine it’s a rainy day, your special someone is at home looking outside the window and the doorbell rings. She opens the door only to be greeted with a bunch of fresh flowers, a box of the finest chocolates and a cute teddy. Won’t it make her day? Start shopping at Floralis now!

Decorate Your Garden

Garden décor products

We all want to live amidst nature – acres of green landscapes, with a variety of flora and fauna. But the urban jungle we call home doesn’t give us that liberty. Floralis, your online floral boutique, lets you bring in some green tranquility amidst all the commotion with a wide range of garden décor products. These easily fit into your interior space and give them the much needed natural treatment against an overdose of concrete and cement. Whether you live in a sprawling bungalow or a designer high-rise, keep your landscape close to you with Floralis products.
Planters are great whether you are looking to build your garden indoors or outdoors. Outdoor planters come in different shapes and sizes to suit varied requirements. But before you order your next planter, ask yourself these questions:

What type of plant are you growing?
Prior to making that purchase, the primary question to answer is what size the plant will grow up to at full size. If you know the size range you need to stay within, it makes the buying process easier.

What variety of outdoor planter are you seeking?

Raised Beds: If you have a larger area at your disposal, raised beds give you the freedom to play around with different kinds of soil compositions. These are perfect for outdoor growing and give you more control whether you are creating your very own vegetable garden or a particular type of landscape.
Vertical Gardens: Your walls can be your next garden. Vertical gardens can be used indoors as well as out and are apt for filling up an empty wall or allowing a gardening enthusiast with limited area the chance to get a landscape.
Window Boxes: These are one of the most economical ways to add curb appeal to your home’s exterior. Window boxes for the kitchen are ideal for growing edible herbs. You can also install them anywhere around the house for a more cohesive look and feel instantly.
Pots: Outdoor pots on your patio add a sense of casual charm. These planters are perfect as architectural accessories and add some vegetation around your home.
Hanging Basket Planters: You can align hanging basket planters along your outdoor patio, walkway or driveway for adding unexpected drama to your landscape.

What material are you intending to use for your planter?
More often than not, there is always some strife between aesthetics, price and durability. Thankfully, with Floralis, you don’t have to compromise on any front. We have lined up a range of planters keeping your preferences in mind so that you have multiple options for adorning your home’s landscape.
Ceramic: For those who are seeking color and variety, ceramic planters fit their bill perfectly. They are known to retain water quite well and last you for years with proper maintenance.
Metal: If you want a more affordable option, metal planters are ideal for the outdoors. They add beauty and character due to their acquired patina as they age. It’s recommended to keep these in a cool, shaded area as they tend to overheat the soil.
Plastic or Fiberglass: Go for these materials if you’re in a time crunch. Not only are they easy to maintain, they are also quite economical.
Terracotta: Terracotta is a suitable alternative to ceramic planters. They drain well, complement different styles and makes of houses and are very attractive in appearance.
Wood: If you’re one of those gardeners who like a challenge, wood planters can be an attractive proposition. They add a rustic and warm elegance to your landscape and are perfect for designing the quintessential planter.

These and a whole lot of other, exciting garden décor products await you at our online and retail stores. So, hurry and give your home the makeover it deserves.
